To quote from the review in LA Weekly:
As a subgenre, the mixed-race/mismatched-buddy comedy-thriller is not without its high points — 48 HRS. and Midnight Run come to mind — but the low points have proliferated over recent years (Blue Streak, Chill Factor, et al.), and The Man seems the logical terminus for this downward spiral.
Every ad I've seen for this movie just screams GENERIC ACTION-COMEDY with the added "bonus" of watching Jackson and Levy go through the motions, plus the whole well-strip-mined "Uptight White Guy Says Words Like Homies In A Dorky Fashion" vein of humor.
PS Director Les Mayfield? Directed that marvellous Martin Lawrence vehicle Blue Streak |
