Has anybody checked out AMC's Halloween schedule for this year?

Who in the world picked this lineup? Don't get me wrong, Tremors is probably my second favorite movie on the list (next to American Werewolf in London), but do we really need to see it nine times in nine days? Are there really so few monster movies in the world that they have to show so many things two and three and four times? Darkman and Carrie and Psycho 3 seem like odd choices for a monster movie marathon. Pet Sematary 2 and Exorcist 2 and Prophecy seem like odd choices for anything. And what's this weird fascination with Friday the 13th parts 4 - 7 and Halloween 4 and 5? I guess Universal and Hammer won't get any love this year. |

What I've noticed about AMC, especially after they started showing commercial advertisements, is that they don't have many Classics any more, and they aren't all American either. That said, it was probably the bean counters that said "Pick cheap stuff."

Agreed. AMC has really gone downhill in recent years. I still remember when Nick Clooney and Bob Dorian were hosting; it had some class then. Not anymore. As much as I loathe Ted Turner, TCM has it all over AMC now. |

AMC rebranded themselves a couple of years back so that they only do 'new classics', which is to say very few movies made prior to 1960.
I have ao agree with Brad: for all of Turner Network's past transgressions against film purity with colorized films (that, thankfully, seem to have gone the way of the Pet Rock and the 'Where's the Beef?' lady), TCM does a bang-up job of keeping classic films alive.
