Why should 'Jabootu' be left out of Urban Dictionary? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Jabootu
I submitted this one:
Uwe Boll noun 1. Purveyor of bad films, often based on video games. 2. An agent of Jabootu, despite the latter's attempts to distance himself from Boll's work. Jabootu hates film, but not that much. 3. A great, gaping chasm of non-talent. 4. Blind, unreasoning hatred of everything that has to do with making films.
verb form Boll, -ed, -ing 1. When a film attempts something that is bold, but ill-advised, and fails miserably in the process. 2. The act of openly rejecting all known rules of making films, where the result is failure. 3. When referring to executives, throwing perfectly good money down a well.
Why do people keep giving Uwe Boll money to make films? Source: Ubiq, Madisonville
BM: I should have mentioned this at the beginning. I solve my problems with violence. |

I think the wikipedia would be a better fit for Jabootu & Boll.. The Urban Dictionary is for slang terms and such.

I'll leave it to some more expressive, enterprising & erudite reader than I to try to get a 'Jabootu' entry into Wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jabootu&action=edit |

Is it JAW-boo-tu or Juh-BOOT-u? I've always wondered, (but not a whole lot.)
As far as "Bolling" goes, I think every household uses phrases like that. For example, in our house, to "Maddy" about something was to needlessly worry or be indecisive about said issue or thing. Around here, we have Beggian : to relentless, slowly and exhaustively grind somebody's movie through a woodchipper. Hopefully, someday, directors will come to fear getting a Beggian review.

'Tis indeed Juh-BOOT-u (or djč-BOO-du, which I think more closely matches the way it actually rolls of the tongue).
A funny observation is that most folks seem to sight-read it the other way -- with an emphasized "JAH" -- when the spelling was merely invented as the most natural phonetic construction of the pronunciation from an old verbal gag of Ken and Andrew's.
(Longtime readers may remember the origins of that gag, which arose during a viewing of Magnificent Obsession.)
"...You know perfectly well what is the matter with you. You have known it for years, though you have fought against the knowledge. You are mentally deranged." |
