I can't believe there's no topic for this yet. Guess this'll be my first post. Hi guys. I can't believe they're doing this. They had to know that the first one tanked. Some differences that are all ready obvious:
Thanks to advances in technology instead of a toy boat in a bath tub we'll get really bad CGI.
According to TV Guide, they're going to occasionally cut away from the surviors on the boat to the rescue effort.(In the original they stayed on the boat the whole time.)
Is there going to be a compare/contrast review of both movies?(Which one is worse, the original or the remake?)

Here's my take on the original: as cheesy as it was, I loved the damn thing. The cheese factor was half the fun, and the other half came from the fact that they had some good actors and a good director selling the story, meaning there were some genuinely GOOD parts, enough to make the hokey stuff go down easy.
My prediction: the remake will be all cheese, and rotten cheese at that. The plot summary of the Poseidon going under because of a terrorist bomb is enough of a warning bell for me. |

And this isn't the only POSEIDON ADVENTURE remake simply called POSEIDON. A big screen, big budget remake is coming to theaters next year directed by Wolfgang (TROY) Peterson and starring Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss, Josh Lucas, Emmy Rossum, Kevin Dillon, Jacinda Barrett, and Andre Braugher. Supposedly it will adhere more closely to the novel than the original film did, particuarly with the ending.

The miniseries is based on the book, Poseidon on the movie. I presume you mean the movie's original ending (which I guess is from the book) which had to be changed after they ran out of money[!] and would have made the sequel logically impossible.
Interestingly the version aired tonight is an hour shorter than the cable and international version. I guess they couldn't get a four hour slot.I wonder if the extra forty minutes were good stuff or filler that should have been cut. |

SPOILERS IF YOU CARE!
Altar Boy??? I'm a girl! XD Anyway a brief note: The ship didn't sink until almost fifty minutes in. Also, it was an explosion that caused the boat to sink and flip over. Bad guys on the boat caused trouble. When they shot people there was very little blood, which was odd since some were shot in the chest.

For those who did see this, was I the only one who thought it was weird that that camcorder the kid was using still worked at the end of the movie?
Why did it take so long for the ship to sink? My Dad's theory was that they were trying to develop the characters so you'll feel sorry for them. I found it very boring and it was all I could do to stay awake!
