I don't think so....I've paid to see Wolf Creek and BloodRayne!
And I should mention there's lots of spoilers for Wolf Creek but frankly I think the movie is pretty well spoiled to begin with. At some point I think we're going to have a moratorium on the word "homage"...this is just another rip-off of the Texas Chainsaw formula, city kids butchered by evil country folk with 4 exceptions.
1. Only 1 killer 2. He talks 3. He drives 4. He uses a gun
Short version. Kids go drive in hte middle of nowhere, breakdown, and Psycho Guy shows up. He gives them a tow back to his place, gives them a few drinks, they pass out, and then you notice that 50 friggan minutes have passed. Then Girl 1 makes a run for it, then Girl 2 makes a run for it, then the Boy runs for it. Ends just like Texas Chainsaw....
Violent and gory but I saw this with two other people and they said they just wanted to go...I leaned on one of them (the pretty one I admit :-)) and she said I slept for 10 minutes and snored which is believable. It's slowwww and boring and Eberts review I 169% agree with. It's sadder than anything I sat through in 2005.
And I saw the House of 1000 Corpses and expect for the cool first 5 minutes how did this movie not spark a lawsuit. Placing the script for TexasCM on a copier and pressing "Go" and spending 5 minutes in rewrite does not make you a screenwriter. But I digress.
BloodRayne is silly but has a hilariously miscast Michelle Rodriquez, a sleepwalking Michael Madsen, a likely hooked on heroine Ben Kingsley, and Kristiana Loken and her lovely breasts. And as bad as it is it's actually watchable (if derivative of Red Sonja) and frankly after enduring Wolf Creek I just don't get the Uwe hate.
Hostel is Wolf Creek, 3 main characters, gruesome stuff in the middle of nowhere, and it's never dull for a second.

I sort of liked "Wolf Creek". I say "sort of" because when a movie of this particular kind is good or at least gets the job done, you don't enjoy it, you suffer your way through it. I found it did work, although I can understand your boredom and disgust with it. If I had to rate it, I would give it 3 over 4, the only problem I had with it was how ilogical the second half was. I mean, we're suppossed to have this impressive killer who's stalked and killed lots of people, yet his victims manage to escape quite easily, at least at first.
And yes, it was disgusting. That was the point. 90% of films glamourize murder, make it look like popcorn entertainment or try to make you cheer it, specially if the "good guy" does it. Here's probably the only film being screened this season that shows it as it problably is, repulsive, disturbing and pointless.
*sigh* Now, watch in the future for my ardent defense of Uwe Boll. |

| Speaking of Uwe Boll, why hasn't someone here (are you listening, Fearless Leader?) given us a review of the master's work? I know it's an easy target, but then so is Robot Monster. |

I just read the Enertainment Weekly review of Bloodrayne. I coulda sworn it was written by a Jabootuite. It was brilliant, and used the name "Uwe Boll" several times with utter disdain.
I came, I saw, I was really too tired to deal with it so I just went to bed. |
