I did not make this up. http://www.killermovies.com/r/reignoerme/articles/5892.html
Reign O'er Me? What the Heck? And can you say "bid for seriousness" by Sandler? I guess Punch Drunk Love and Spanglish didn't do that well so how about a 9/11 movie. |

That's not as bad as the sitcom that was at one time being developed about a man and woman that both lost their respective spouses on 9/11 (one in the WTC, the other in the Pentagon) that meet and fall in love. Haven't heard anything about that one since it was announced being in development about 2 years ago. Guess sanity prevailed. I see nothing wrong with this movie you're posting a link to other than the concept of Adam Sandler in another dramatic role.

Thank goodness then. What about the title then? Reign O'er Me? Is that a reference to something? |

Thank godness I'm not the only one who is having trouble making a connection between 9/11 and an obscure Who song.

Thus far everything 9/11 related that was clearly politically motivated to appeal to either the right or left has been rather respectful. I read that plot synopsis and really have no problem with it other than the casting of Adam Sandler. Even if it is a serious drama, you just get back vibes with his name attached to it.

| I can't wait for the scene where Sandler's character is finally letting out all the grief he's stored up for five years, sobbing in a heap on the floor of the psychologist's office. The psychologist will say something about letting the healing begin, and Rob Schneider steps out of a closet to scream "YOU CAN DO EET!" |

This may not be so bad. I liked Spanglish and Punch Drunk Love. Besides the plot description sounds okay there are undoudtably people out there who are still dealing with the trauma of 9/11 so we'll see.

See, I actually think Sandler is, or at least could be, an excellent actor. The key is that, unlike (say) Jim Carrey, when he plays it straight, he doesn't make it seem calculated, and he doesn't wink at the audience. "Punch Drunk Love" featured a completely sincere and unrestrained performance on his part; given that his audience, then and now, consists of a great many frat boy types, that was pretty bold of him. There was no sense that he was just in it for an Oscar or whatever. (I'm absolutely dying to see the promised Sandler-starring Quentin Tarantino WWII flick.)

By the way, Sandler's also in this upcoming movie "Click" and I thought he was in yet another movie with Ziyi Zhang this fall, too. Busy man.
