I keep bringing up this movie, but Keanu Reeves in THE WATCHER.
James Spader played a great tortured good guy, but Keanu Reeves seemed to believe that the best way to portray a supremely calculating sadistic evil genius was to stare blankly at everyone and move in such a way as to portray that he was some sort of other worldly creature who did not yet have the hang of controlling the human musculature (especially when he was 'dancing' to the should-be-banned-due-to-overuse BURN WITCH BURN by Rob Zombie).
MikeC, I think the movie complete scarred me |

| I have to agree on THE WATCHER. I saw it and was blown away by Spader's fine performance, Reeves on the other hand... How is it this guy still gets film work? He. Can. Not. Act. |

Jan-Michael Vincent was good in BUSTER AND BILLIE. |

It's just that sometimes he's more blatant (Connery) and sometimes he covers it up with a few quips (Moore). Can anyone forget when he duped Solitaire into "giving up" her powers by handing her the rigged deck of Tarot cards?
I thought that was funny. |

I'll have to be the odd one re: Bond films. I liked OHMSS, and like Lazenby. Love Connery and (most) of his films - Goldfinger will always be a classic, but I love "From Russia With Love" more. In a tie for my favorite Bond movie & actor, along with Connery in FRWL, is Timothy Dalton in "The Living Daylights." I love that one. See, told you I was weird. :)

| I should say that I also have a soft spot for "The Living Daylights". Timothy Dalton COULD have been a good Bond if they had given him more chances to play the character, and the film itself is a very competent action stravaganza. |

Well I have to think of Keanu Reeves in the Matrix. First time I saw it the film blew me away so I didn't notice so much but now if I watch it again Mr. Reeves' performance just brings the whole thing down.
Actually, maybe Keanu Reeves' performance in anything has ruined it. Except Bill and Ted perhaps. That seems to be about his level.
Excellent site by the way gangrene!

I would say Johny Depp in Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl, but you said ruined good movies. Even without Depp's gay town drunk pirate, this movie wasn't very good.
Yet many say they liked that performance. I wonder if they were watching the same movie.
And how about The Conquerer with John Wayne as Ghengis Khan? I actually felt sorry for ol' John. He was trying to avoid being typecast and wanted to show he was more versital, but it only reinforced the typecasting. |
