Reports on the IMDb say that yet another movie remake of a TV show is on the way. Ready for this?
Dallas.
Ready for the cast?
John Travolta as JR, Jennifer Lopez as Sue Ellen, and Shirley Maclaine as Miss Ellie.
That's just wrong. Pure, unadulterated WRONG. Ken and Pip will have to collaborate on the review for this one, I think. |

And the director just quit because he so disagreed with the studio's casting decisions. Just think about that for a second. Quitting the gig of directing a big screen version of DALLAS over artistic differences. This thing must really be doomed.

If you make your save role you find Bobby alive in the shower and everything turns out to have all been a dream.

You know, those Pace salsa commercials always ticked me off.
Some of the best salsa I ever had was in New York City. Heck, there are probably more great hispanic cooks in NY than in Austin, Houston and Dallas combined.
<*Please note: I am not talking about the DALLAS movie, on the theory that if you ignore something it will go away*>

Uh oh. Them's fightin' words. Houston has the greatest Mexican food in Texas, and all of the other, lesser 49 states. Shoot me your address and I'll send you a batch of my homemade award-winning salsa.

Now, then, hold on.
I make that statement not to dis on any of my Texan friends, but given the population advantage that New York City would enjoy, not just in gross numbers but in the fact that it is truly one of the great cuisine destinations in the world, I would say that on a per capita basis it would have more. There is also the added wrinkle that there are quite a few cooks from traditions other than straight Tex-Mex or Mexican practicing salsa making in NYC, but I've never been one to argue 'food authenticity' based solely on geography.
Good food is good food, after all.
But: I do defy anyone to find a good pizza place west of the Schuykill River or south of Delaware bay....
And no: 'Deep Dish' is not pizza. Its good. But its not 'pizza'.
MikeC, now THEM'S fightin' words, pardner.....;-) |

You mean California Pizza Kitchen isn't authentic pizza??? (Yes, that's a real chain, and yes, I laughed myself silly when I saw one of their stores.) I surprised that all of the CPK stores haven't been burned to the group by folks from Chicago and New York. You should see the menu...

| John Travolta really doesn't seem like too bad of a choice if he can pull the Texas accent off. But Jennifer Lopez? Wasn't Sue Ellen...white? |

They found a new director. http://washtimes.com/upi/20060406-021736-8205r.htm. I can't think of anything else to say.
It's Coacoa Puffs, Bob. I have no idea why, but it fits the equation. |

| I never saw Bend It Like Beckham, but I heard it was pretty good (hey, it got Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley off to their starts). Hearing that its director is now directing I Dream of Jeannie and Terl in Dallas is quite depressing. Three steps down the ladder, I'd say. |
