I finally got out to the movie theatre last evening, to see Akeelah and the Bee (a nice little "feel-good" movie, with an impressive performance by Angela Bassett in it). However, while waiting for it to start, I was visited by a Trailer of Doom.
Garfield 2 is coming. Seriously, do we need this?
The animation looks BAAADDD. The audience only laughed once - when Garfield belched (OK, there were a lot of kids there). And, a clear sign of desperation on the author's part, it's set in England. (Every series shows its desperation when it starts looking for new locations for old characters. I guess they hope people will be going "Oooh, look, it's Big Ben! Hey, it's the Houses of Parliament!" and missing the general ineptitude of the flick.)
Could not starving children in Africa have been fed or something instead of spending money on this? It's not like the last one impressed anyone. |

Hey, the studios know that X number of kids are going to torture their parents by making them tote the little darlings to see this drivel. Needless to say, almost no thought goes into these decisions. The scenarios are placed on dart boards and let the missles fly. As for starving children, well let's see..."starving children...new Ferrari...starving children..., etc." (Executive type doing the two handed balance deal).
