It may LOOK better but this is classic House of the Dead Uwe- in fact I'm only halfway through but I venture to say it's his best film yet, because you can actually SEE Ben Kingsly dying inside. And Micheal Madsen is drunker than anyone since the glory days of Richard Burton and Oliver Reed...
I'm giggling lke a school girl- this is great *g*

No you can't In order to see him dying inside he'd have to show some life on the outside first. I'm convinced that Boll actually slipped Kingsley some roofies and pulled a little Weekend at Bernie's action to make it seem like Ben Kingsley actually performed in his film.
On the other hand, as you'll see by the last shot of the film, it might just be that the throne he sat upon was possessed by some sort of spirit that completely sucks the life out of those that sit on it.

Kingsly carries on with the dignity of someone caught wearing a cheerleader uniform and dancing to Pet Shop Boys records when he thought no one was home and is determined to act like it's not the most mortifying moment of his entire life.
And in a brave casting decision, Michelle Rodriguez is cast as a spunky Latino girl- with an English accent!! Uwe is a genius.

It's hard to watch the film without feeling sort of sorry for everyone involved. And I'll cease to be amazed at how it's possible to drop several million making a film when the script itself is so obviously flawed. Watching the movie, I find myself re-editing it and re-writing it in my head.
I'm glad that I've finally seen a Uwe Boll film in the theater, and proud to own the director's cut. I'm also happy that it's the best film Boll has made to date (that I've seen). I hope that some day, it will be possible to watch a film he made and actually enjoy it in the way he thought it would be enjoyed.

Consider this stolen!
I'm glad that I've finally seen a Uwe Boll film in the theater, and proud to own the director's cut. I'm also happy that it's the best film Boll has made to date (that I've seen). I hope that some day, it will be possible to watch a film he made and actually enjoy it in the way he thought it would be enjoyed. |
