Gruff yet paternal boss. And the FBI agent will have a parent who was killed in the line of duty.
Now, if the agent speaks with a West Virginia accent and consults with a sociopath with, um, unusual culinary habits, I'm gonna start thinking this is a little derivative. |

That's generally how these movies get screwed up in the first place. If the film is too by the numbers, nut jobs like Jennifer Lynch might try to art it up by doing weird things, like the hero's partner inexplicably is wearing a clown suit the whole movie or something stupid like that. |
