Ever see a character added to a TV show / movie series, and the way they did it made the character grate on your mind, every time you see them? The Kid , as mentioned in the SURFACE thread, is a good example....he's a KENNY! Infact, the original Kenny of Gamera infamy, sets it up. Soooooo..... What character intro bugs you the most, how come, and what should they have done to make he/she/it...less painfull,if not outright intresting? I mean...is there a character you might have liked, but the "First Impression" blew it for you?

| Jar Jar Binks. Qui-Gon Jin literally bumped into him. It was so stupid, my brain still hurts and I haven't seen Phantom Menace since it was in theaters |

"3000 Miles to Graceland"
When for some reason they put in "Ice T" at the end of the movie as a hired gunman. Sorry, this instantaneous inducer of shark jumping doesn't rate "cameo" appearence hype.
A few scenes later during the final gunfight, "Ice T" hangs upside down from a hook on a cable and fires at cops with two Uzis as he glides across the room. Really, really dumb.
The "reintroduction" of the reborn McCloud in "Highlander 2". He manages to behead a goofy villian on one of those hoverboards from "Back to the Future 2" and reclaim his youth. The female lead, who he just met moments earlier, rushes up to him and kisses him for no reason whatsoever.

I hate these threads *lol* because I feel I should have fifty examples right off the bat and when it comes down to it I can't think of anything...

| Any introduction in which the main character rushes up to loudly greet the person only to find out they're mistaken about whom they're supposed to greet. And of course, usually they've elbowed the character they're supposed to greet out of the way. |

The ALL TIME CLASSIC HATED CHARACTER INTRODUCTION!

Really, I don't remember how this excremental character was "specifically" introduced into the Scooby-Doo shows. My guess is they just included his intro in the opening title music and kept on as if he wasn't a catastrophic blow to the series.
I stopped watching the stuff when they put this annoying, adolescent, "Danny Devito-esque" creature into the series.
If only there was a final episode where some scythe-wielding monster took a big swing and severed Scrappy's head from his body. His head sailing through the air to land lifeless at Scooby and Shaggy's feet, with Shaggy yelling, "Zoinks!"

An intro from a TV show I caught on Sci-Fi a couple of days ago. Hey kids! See if you can guess the character and the show!

Sad to admit, thats what i was thinking, but now BradH812 reminds us of...Twiki! The robot Kenny!Arghhh! How he annoyed me. I know Crow and Ton Servo felt the same way! And what was the point of twiki haveing a seperate ...(Ahem) "Intelligance", when he/she/it was just the limo for Dr. Huer...or what ever that "brilliant" computer he carried around on his chest was....anyone know where we can get Twiki and Scrappy Doo toilet paper? And don't get me started on Scooby Doo! Just...don't...
Scrappy Doo p.o.s Mandy, and she says, "Take off his head, Grim" "Sure ting, mandy, stand back and watch me do the 100 years war swoop!" Ah-hahahahaha!.....

It gave Mel Blanc a paycheck.

Lieutenant Felina Feral in SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron. Literally, she appears out of nowhere and rescues erstwhile main heroine Callie Briggs in the first episode of the second season. The problem is, all the characters know who she is and treat her like she's been there all along. Proof positive this show had no continuity between its episodes.
The fact that her inclusion added nothing to the series didn't help. Her only real purpose was to basically be a more action-oriented version of Callie, albeit thankfully less annoying, and remind everyone how wonderful the SWAT Kats are. |

Hmmm.
Steven Seagal's intro in On Deadly Ground could qualify as one of the most annoying. (The director REALLY liked the star, no?)
And I was laughing the first time I saw that overblown intro to Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder. Really, it's a trip; I'm surprised they didn't play Also Sprach Zarathustra when he came riding onto the screen. |

| Charles Emerson Winchester III on "MASH." Was it necessary to subject poor Hotlips to a marriage that broke up on her honeymoon, or poor Major Burns to a nervous breakdown, just to bring Winchester to the 4077th? |
