I'm sure this won't be as funny as it sounds (they always find some way to mess up a good concept). However, I like the sound of this upcoming film as described on Rotten Tomatoes:

quote:
In his upcoming movie, "Be Kind Rewind," Jack Black gets to remake all of our '80s favorites. He plays a video store clerk who accidentally erases all the tapes, and has to replace all the videos by filming them himself.

I'll say one thing for Jack Black - unlike a lot of young comedians, he's not afraid to stray from the tried and true. I'm kind of hoping they pull this one off.

Sounds like it could be an interesting diversion, but the concept seems like it is about 5 years too late. At least there are some 'video' stores still around. Hurry up, dude, get on with it...

It might be interesting. However, after watching Nacho Libre, the man owes me 90 minutes of my life back.

One of my students saw Nacho Libre a couple of weeks ago and gave a short presentation in class about it. She said she enjoyed it a lot and made it sound like a pretty fun movie.

But then again, I've discovered that the Japanese in general don't seem to be very discriminating in the movies they like. When I first got here, it seemed like almost everyone I asked said that Armageddon was their favorite movie. I hadn't yet seen it myself, so one day I rented it to see what it was like, and I could only get all the way through it by liberal application of the fast-forward button. Gawd.

My sister and her family loved it, which was why I was forced to endure it. I just found it to be....I don't know how to describe it other than a visceral hate.
