Is Fox being politically correct? It seems pretty unlikely but, given how clever this movie is compared to so many other movies in theaters, it remains an open question.
So, in 2505, "American English has devolved to a patois of hillbilly and inner city?" People manage to be extremely eloquent in both. Some linguists theorize that the hillbilly dialects are the closest surviving thing to Shakespeare's English. |

In 2005, English has devolved into a patois (or perhaps "Creole" would be a better technical term) of Germanic, Romantic, and Celtic tongues, with a recently added smattering of Arabic, Asian, African and North American Indian languages.
People still talk, though. |

Have Yiddish drived words in English made it out of the North America? Do Australians and Brits say "schmuck"?

Well, schmuck is not in common use but it is occasionally used; eg. in a Blackadder episode; the title song described him as an "Elizabethan Schmuck"

"Nosh" is/was used in England. It's Yiddish.

| Certainly I should not have forgotten Yiddish - I should have replaced "Arabic" with "Semitic". The contributions of generations of Catskills comics to the English tongue should not be overlooked. I am a putz to have done so. |

Yiddish is not a Semitic language. Hebrew is a Semitic language. Yiddish and Ladino are Indo-European languages. "Putz" comes from a German word, meaning "to clean" and "shmuck" in German means "jewel."

I started to read the article, saw Harry Knowles's name, and then moved on.
Sorry, can't help with the topic. |

It's a good movie (though the fact that it's been obscured from public sight is leading a lot of people to build it up a little bit too much). But I think the main reason it had a problem with release is that it suggests that problems arise when stupid people mindlessly buy products because they're told to. Crazy talk!
