The no budget studio The Asylum has decided to do a *gulp* "modern retelling of the classic science-fiction tale, the charismatic sociopath Captain Nemo"

There are limits beyond which efforts at puny camp can not survive. They've exceeded them by hiring Lorenzo Lamas. They're in deeper now than they have ever been before.

I can't understand why they didn't hire the real James Belushi instead. Is he that selective with the roles he takes?
So far, I've only seen him deliver *one* decent performance, in Gang Related. He's one of the actors in my "most hated" list. |

Someone has clearly been reading my blog. If it's any consolation, 30,000 LEAGUES cannot possibly be any worse than their planned knock-off of this winter's Will Smith I AM LEGEND will be. With a title like I AM OMEGA how could it be anything but terrible?
Don't forget their planned ALIEN VS. PREDATOR knock-off to be called ALIENS VS. HUNTERS. Even without knowing anything other than the titles screams "This will suck."

| Jim Belushi is probably making more than enough money on his sitcom, which is pretty successful. It's actually pretty interesting how many of these film actors are staring in successful TV shows. I mean, Jim Belushi and Charlie Sheen weren't exactly top tier stars, but they did lead in several movies. Could a Steven Seagal sitcom be in the future? |
