I generally get to Jabootu from a web search engine since I use a shared computer. I type in "Jabootu.net" and get a bunch of hits. I just noticed that the description in the list of hits reads "dedicated to savoring films from the very bottom of the cinematic bell curve since 1997." Wow.

| I wonder if Ken will let us know the exact date, so we can celebrate appropriately (yet responsibly)? |

| What can we offer to Jabootu in sacrifice? I have some old John Woo VHS (from the time he looked like a promising filmmaker) that could be eviscerated, and then we can read the future in the rolls of tape. |

I discovered Jabootu when I looked up reviews of a movie called Boxing Helena. I had just seen it by mistake and it was one of the strangest and silliest movies I have ever seen. I had to know if what I had just seen was real or not. The search engine led me to Ken's description here on Jabootu. It made me laugh and laugh so I checked out the rest of the web site and found bad movie gold, especially on this discussion group. Congratulations Ken on ten years of great stuff.

I discovered Jabootu ehrn I looked up FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC on IMDB. By the way, Ken writes, in his review of FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC, that opening narration is "not a good sign." TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, anyone? THE MAGNIFICANT AMBERSONS? |

I never thought it would happen to me, but Miss Playpen and I were working late one night when...SORRY, wrong intro.
I discovered Jabootu when someone posted the link in one of the MST3K newsgroups back around '99 or so. I had no life at the time, so I tore through every review & nugget, regardless of whether I'd seen or heard of the movie, in no time at all, laughing all the way.

Well, dang me! For what it's worth, the anniversary date has come and gone. Our first review at KWAM (Ken's World of Awful Movies--our first version of the site) was posted on June 8th, 1997. Sorry, folks. I'll try to be more dilgient about the 20th anniversary. And maybe I'll actually post some stuff between now and then.
Would it be awfully disgusting to suggest that anyone would who like to would be welcome to drop a validictory ten spot in the tip jar? Frankly, I think that's overvaluing the services I've personally provided over the last decade. Then again, we have also posted *good* reviews by Douglas and Jason and Eva and Jessica and Liz Kingsley and Lianna.

Of course, I was so consumed with greed that although I instinctively tried to empty your wallets and purses (assuming you only had a tenner in there) that I forgot the most important thing: Thanking all of you guys for spending time with us over the last ten years. This site belongs is what it is not only because of the people who have written for us, but all of you have have wasted spent your valuable time with us. I really, truly, sincerely appreciate each and every single one of you guys. Thank you very, very much.

(Reading from the eviscerated strings of VHS tape)
Hey! Here it says that the next John Woo film, Battle of red cliff, will be Jabootu worthy. |

Which, really, sums up how many tips we get. Still, I'll mention it to Chris, if only for irony's sake.

This may induce some hardcore cognitive dissonance, since I'm being Captain Political McAngrypants here and in the blog comments right now, but I always enjoy the site and will be dropping in a ten-spot as soon as I get more than five minutes in front of the internets. Congratulations on 10 aggravating years, Ken!

Thanks, guys! And Prankster, I hope you really do know how much I value your presence here. Hopefully we'll still be arguing stuff for many more years in the future.
Just remember that when I get around to Zabriski Point...it wasn't my idea, Eva requested it!

Wow! It turns out Amazon doesn't send you notice of when you get tips. Or...they do sometimes. I got notice of one tip, but after seeing the comments here, I checked into the account and found I have received eight tips altogether. And three went far beyond the $10 I requested; one was for $30, two for $50.
They don't keep record of who sent the donations in, so let me just thank each of you here. You know who you are. The next couple weeks should start seeing far heavier posting (not that that is saying much). Rest assured that everyone's donations will go to buying further review fodder for the site.
Thanks again, guys! I truly appreciate it. |

Thanks for all the work...now if i can figger out that tip jar....do you take checks?
