There's a bit of geeky-boy (or geeky-girl) in all of us, otherwise we wouldn't be here. That much we can all acknowledge. But, as John Saxon once said in Enter the Dragon, "There's a point I won't go beyond."
This is it:

Now over the years I have developed a certain grudging respect for Ridley Scott's cult "classic". But note the scare quotes... I've never quite understood the fanaticism this movie has inspired in movie lovers in certain quarters. But oh, well. Different strokes and Dana Plato and all that. If there are guys out there who adore this movie, so be it.
But a five disc DVD set??!!!???
Come on! Who on earth needs four DVDs worth of extras from Blade Runner? How many Making-Of Behind-the-Scenes docudramas on one film can a person really stomach? (Heck, I still haven't popped in my Disc 2 for Return of the King.) You mean to tell me there are really that many people out there who are going to say: "A featurette on the "True Nature of Rick Deckard", a Sean Young screen test, and my own origami paper unicorn! Yegads, this collector's edition will be mine!"
Sheez... to the best of my knowledge, even Citizen Kane never rated more than a 3 disc set. Third Man barely got 2. Bearing this in mind... anybody care to share their thoughts on what movies you wish got this kind of celebratory DVD treatment? Maybe a movie that's been out there all these years but has never gotten the collector's edition treatment it truly deserved.

Can a 30 disc set Lord of the Rings be far behind?

Hey, as long as it gets me BR in Hi-Def (I'll be buying the Blu-Ray release) who cares. ESPECIALLY considering the old DVD of the movie is one of the worst DVD releases of all time. And at least you get a choice of cuts to match your taste, not the FU that Lucas gave fans of Star Wars. Now you get the original cut, the director's cut, and the Real Actual I Didn't Mean That Other One, I Meant THIS One Director's Cut!
