By now, you all know that Rhino's Vol. 10 had to be pulled from shelves because Rhino lost the DVD rights to Godzilla vs. Megalon. Hence, Rhino reissued Vol. 10 with Giant Gila Monster taking the former's place. For a brief time, though, Rhino allowed owners of the original Vol. 10 to order Giant Gila Monster as a single DVD. (The alternative would be for consumers to have to buy the entire DVD set all over again to just to obtain the one new movie.)
I'm wondering which of you opted to buy the single DVD versus buying the entire set. (I opted for the former, and it just arrived Saturday.)
Aside from the movie itself, which was great, the single DVD reunites Joel Hogdson with his bots for the first time in, what, fifteen years? The bad news is Kevin Murphy does not return as Tom Servo. Either Josh Weinstein does the voice in the new segment, or it was Frank Coniff doing a Josh impersonation (as some have suggested). Trace does return as Crow, however.
The biggest shock was seeing how much Joel had changed over the years. I knew he'd aged at least a little because I'd seen pictures of him recently, but I was still surprised. Trace playing Dr. Forrester, on the other hand, looked as if he'd just stepped off a set in 1995. All in all, it's great to see them all back, albeit for only one segment. Let's hope Shout Factory, which owns the rights to MST3K now, reunites the old gang for future DVD releases.

Since I'm one of the lucky devils who ordered the original Volume 10, I ordered the single release. Haven't seen it yet,
