I know that people and especially politicians love to tell tall tales but this one by Hillary about risking her life in Bosnia is a real whopper, espicially since CBS video taped the entire event. She has used the story to demonstrate her bravery adn policy credentials. Hillary claims that she came under sniper fire and risked her life. But she brought her daughter along with several entertainers. The video tape, that she knew was being made, shows the truth about the event. How can she now run against a man who was actually captured and tortured for 5 years and be taken seriously?

There's also the whole NAFTA thing where she claimed that she was opposed to NAFTA when she was First Lady but White House documents show that she acutally worked for it passage. I don't know what's at work here, an arrogance that makes her believe that no one would ever dare check up on what she said, or a contempt that makes her beleive that no one would think to check up on what she said.

Semi off-topic (as it does have an influence on US politics)

At this very moment probably the most crucial battle since the US occupation began is being fought in Basra between Iraqi forces and Shi'ite militias. If the Iraqi forces lose or a spark is set for a wider Shi'ite on Shi'ite conflict we're basically screwed, surge or no surge.

I'm with Lewis Black - who suggested, on Larry King, that we would seriously benefit from a 4 year military coup.

If ever there was an election between a Giant Douche and a Turd Sandwich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douche_and_Turd) this will be it. I'm voting Libertarian.

This just exemplifies the utter contempt that politicians feel towards us "regular folks".

I managed to get by in previous elections with the "lesser of two evils" proposition but this year leaves me at a loss with two seemingly equal evils.

The choice between Hillary and Obama? Why not both?

In all fairness, this could all be a brilliant strategy by Hillary to position herself as the weaker of two candidates and draw Republican votes during the primary.

(which, if true, seems to be working because over 150,000 voters switched parties in PA this month)

I think the Limbaugh Effect has more to do with that.

Hell, I'd bet Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity and company would actually prefer a Clinton presidency to a McCain one. In the latter case they would be the at the fringe of the Repo party, in the former they could style themselves as leaders of the opposition, much more nutritious for their egos.

No, the Limbaugh strategy isn't to put Hillary in the White House.

This is the reasoning behind the "strategy": Hillary is more willing to go negative on Obama than McCain is, and Obama is more willing to go negative on Hillary than McCain is. So why not prolong the Democrat primary and give Obama and Hillary more time to beat each other up, pumping each other's negatives higher and higher?

If Hillary were leading in delegates, the Republican strategy would be to cross over and vote for Obama, keeping him in the race. Whoever's behind in the polls/delegates, give that candidate the necessary boost. Prolong the primary all the way to the convention, then let the candidates hash it out there.

In short, let the Dems themselves do the dirty work that the McCain campaign (presumably) won't.
