I can see if the guy's playing an "ensign Kirk" fresh out of the Academy, and through the sequels he grows into CAPTAIN Kirk. That could be enjoyable -- but dang, the guy's sitting in THE CAPTAIN'S CHAIR already!

Sort of... it was near the end of the series (i.e., really in the toilet). She was invaded by a bunch of out-of-focus Christmas Tree lights and they had to put her in a pressure tank or something to drive them out. McCoy was in love with a dying girl. No, that's not right. McCoy was dying, and in love with a girl.

Thats it...they did to the Big E what they did to the Klingons...they 'reimaged' them...the Enterprise has been 'head ridged.' Nice look, but wrong!
Its as if the original series never existed...I feel so old...

Man, I gotta say the Enterprise looks pretty sweet. Very much in keeping with the original but more believable. Of course, yeah, there's no continuity with the series whatsoever so why bother with the whole Academy conceit? Just call it a TOS reboot/re-imagining with younger actors and be done with it.

I once heard a long interview with one of the star trek actors ( I cant remember if it was the one who played Sulu or Checkov). One of the callers asked him about continuity. In one show they say this about the Romulans and in another they say something else. He replied that with having to write, produce and edit an hour show every week they simply didn't care about continuity. There simply wasn't enough time to worry about it. If someone in the cast or crew spotted an inconsistency they would correct if it there was time, but otherwise they had far more important things to do with their limited time and budget. (also no one at Paramount expected people to be watching the shows over and over for 40 years).
Thus continuity has never been an issue before and so why start and worry about it now. I hope that paramount just creates an entertaining series. But it doesnt look promising.
