Somebody alert the Sci Fi Channel. I'm sending them my screenplay, now.

I'm pretty sure they'll already have their own scripts floating around, all they need is to switch the 60 feet condor or the weasel from other world for the big snake. I can picture it right now:

quote:

001 - Exterior - Badlands

The condor BIG SNAKE glides against the wind. Pictured in a series of isolated shots, it looks as it it's floating in the air. We know nothing of its size yet, and it keeps floating over the badlands looking for a prey.

002 - Interior - Cesna airplane

...the type flown all over the world by airplane enthusiasts and sunday pilots. A BROKER in his 40s is at the controls, and a BORED BIMBO sits by his side, almost desperate for some conversation.

BROKER

Can you pass me another beer?

See? Just some strategic changes and nobody will notice!

I doubt this thing was very fast. Most likely it was an ambush predator and sulked amoung the weeds or in the water waiting for its prey to amble by, which would make it a pretty dull monster. All you would have to do was stay away from it and if you did happen to see it you could escape it with a brisk walk. Also, as the blog article stated, the enviroment it lived in was a good deal warmer than anything we have on Earth today and it couldn't even exist in the modern world. Of course ...

"Global Warming awakens a monster from the past, a super speed, giant CGI Paleocene Titanoboa ready to teach the human race a lesson or two about enviromental stewardship!"

Like that'll stop the moviemakers. We've had amazing, physics-defying anacondas and teleporting pythons. I'm sure they can get around reality and give us a snake that can outrun a truck and smash through walls with its head or something.

The part of this that disturbs me is that it makes Boa seem almost prescient in a way, and I don't want to give that movie any credit for anything since it sucked so bad.

------------------
Seriously, though, "Titanoboa" sounds like they WANT someone to make a movie about it...

Well, whoever named Gigantosaurus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giganotosaurus) was probably hoping to subplant Tyrannosaurus Rex in the tough-name-that-would-sound-good-in-a monster-movie sweepstakes. Unfortunately for him (or her) that never happened. But still, I'm kind of surprised no one has made a movie called "Gigantosaurus" especially considering that the real life Gigantosaurus was slighly larger than T-Rex.

Gigantosarus = Cool.
Spinosarus = Name that sounds like it works for a corporate PR firm.
