I open this thread up to people who want to find a film from long ago but can't remember the name.
When I was a kid, I saw this movie about a helicopter that lands on a mysterious island. I think the only occupents are the male pilot and the female passenger. The reason why the helicopter lands on this island is because it is experiencing engine trouble.
The island is unfortunately populated with biped monsters that kinda-sorta look like the creature from the black lagoon. The tend to roar to make their presence known.
The only point of safety is a fort on the island. The couple make their way to it and signal it with a flare gun. The human occupents of the fort let them in.
I don't remember what happens after that. But somehow by the end of the movie: The fort gets overrun. The helicopter gets repaired and one of the creatures is falls victim to the flare gun.
I do remember the ending. As the couple flys away to safety, the woman starts to check the back of the helicopter and all of a sudden a hand grabs her. Then the sound of a creature roar.
The inference being that they really didn't make it and that they would crash into the sea.
Anyone know what this movie was? Ring any bells?

| Sure sounds familiar -- was it B&W or color? What year did you see this? |

I found the trailer to Dance of the Dwarves:

I don't know.
None of the scenes I remember are in the trailer. Although the description of the plot seems right. And the two leads are about what I remember. The pilot being kind of a everyman tough guy type(like Kurt Russell) and woman being too good looking for...well...anything outside of LA.
If it IS, then it looks like I'm back to a "Race for the Yankee Zepher" situation. Where my memories of it were cooler than the film itself.

To answer your question Bobby-G:
It was in color. Late seventies, Early Eighties vintage. |

Does this scene ring any bells? A woman is possessed by a demon who makes her chant nursery rhymes. I saw this picture on TV when I was in college and I still remember the rhyme. It goes "I have a bonnet trimmed with blue. Do you wear it? Yes I do. I will wear it when I can, going to the ball with my young man." Does anyone remember an ANCIENT science fiction movie in which a married couple is driving through a desolate landscape and their car is stolen by hoodlums? They beg a lift from a dwarf in a tiny car. In the end, the husband drives away with the dwarf, leaving his wife alone in the desolate landscape, crying "John, I love you." There are repeated shots of a missile, presumably moving through space, presumably to burn up the world or do something equally dire. I saw that part of a picture on TV, when I was about 8 or 9, and visting my grandmother, of blessed memory. It scared the life out of me. Does anyone recognize it? |
