Except for Nighthawks, has he ever made a film with an Arab terrorist antagonist character?
The book Reel Bad Arabs does not give Stallone much attention. Although he has a reputation for extreme jingoism, he has not picked up on the post-9/11 war on terror theme. |

He hasn't really (at least not recently - which is good decision). It's not only a cliche, but it can alienate a section of your fanbase.

Nighthawks had a Arab Terrorist character?
If memory serves, the terrorist in Nighthawks was more of the European Die Hard variety.

I was thinking the very same thing.

| Wasn't the lead bad guy in Nighthawks played by Rutgar Hauer? Not the guy I'd choose to play any kind of Arab. |

| Rutger Hauer's character was being paid by an Arabic woman played by Persis Khambatta. |

Again, if memory serves, Hauer's girlfriend was more of a associate.
Hauer killed the money men earlier in the film because they wouldn't pay him.
And get this, the reason they didn't want to pay him is because he killed children on his previous job. Kinda puts the post 9/11 world in context. Financiers of terrorism had a conscience in those days. |

You're right. According to IMDB Hauer's character is named "Wulfgar," which sounds pretty damned German to me. However, if I remember correctly Wulfgar is something of a mercenary/terrorist. At the beginning of the movie, he carries out a terrorist bombing of a British department store. Later he kills two Brit Special Branch officers and an informant. This scene may be based on an actual event; on June 27, 1975 Ilich Ramírez Sánchez (aka Carlos the Jackal) shot and killed two French police officers who tried to apprehend him at a party in Paris.
Persis Khambatta's character is named "Shakka Holland" which sounds like someone of an mixed Western/Eastern background.

That's exactly who Wulfgar was based on. Carlos the Jackal.
Even Carlos' modus operendi was imitated. Carlos was know for picking up women at nightclubs and using their homes as his safe houses. In one instance, they found one of his girlfriends. In her home they found his cache of weapons. Someone laid them out next to a book titled The Day of the Jackal and took a picture. From that Carlos nickname was coined. |

| The ironic part is Carlos never read "Day of the Jackal". The book belonged to the owner of the apartment, not Carlos. |
