| What? He did look frail in his later appearences, but this is completely unexpected. AFAIK he didn't suffer any debilitating illness and he was doing lots of stuff after Kill Bill put him on the map again. |

quote: He supposedly killed himself.
Word now is that it was autoerotic asphyxiation gone wrong. Which is the only time autoerotic asphyxiation makes the news, really.

So I guess we'll never get to see Mata Hari.
http://www.us.imdb.com/title/tt0133957/
This was a labor of love Carradine was directing, starring his own daughter IIRC. The movie would have told the entire life story of Hari, and Carradine's idea was that his daughter would play the same character from beginning to end, not through the use of makeup to age her, but rather by shutting down production for years, waiting for her daughter to become old enough to re-assume the role. (Think Michael Apted's Up documentary series for comparison.)
I have no idea whether Carradine's project ever got off the ground, but it would certainly be interesting to see what footage he had shot, even if it was never completed. The notion of an actor literally aging before your eyes has never been tried before, I don't think, at least not in any mainstream movie I've ever heard of.
Anyway, big David, rest in peace. Say hi to John for us. |

Eight years ago I talked the Carradine at a memorabilia show, and I brought up that movie (I couldn't remember the title, so just mentioned the part about using his daughter at different ages) -- He said it was a work in progress.
