"As you know, Bram Stoker did not write a sequel to Dracula. In fact, I had a hard time thinking of anyone who wrote a vampire novel series until I remembered Brad Lorey's Dracula series published by Pinnacle in the 1970's. This series featured Dracula as a reluctant tool against criminals (well, criminals who preyed on innocent civilians).

Actually, since Pinnacle also published the Executioner series at around this time, one can guess where the idea of putting Dracula in this direction came from. Pinnacle and other publishers pumped out numerous mob-busters series in the 1970's. Even the Spider series returned in redacted reprints.

Anyone know of any earlier book series about a vampire?"
