When Mythbusters premiered in 2003,I thought the premise was interesting but I felt no strong need to watch it. But as fate would have it, one Christmas changed all that. I was looking for something to watch and Discovery was having a Marathon of the show. And as I started watching, I became very interested.

I watched whenever it was on. And with the MacGyver episode, I started to DVR it.

The show seems to have hit its stride. The First season had some elements that were introduced and quietly faded out. For example, they'd have a folklore-ist who would explain the origins of a myth. Now the show focuses on the chemistry of two teams. Adam and Jamie are the first. Grant, Tori, and Kari are the second.

And from that they've built and destroyed many a project over the years. And I've selected a few favorites from the Internet. Enjoy and comment:

Adam Sounding like the Devil

And some Kari Byron eye candy.

I've seen the show a few times. I like the topics they cover and they down to earth approach. Still, I find the hosts VERY annoying. If they learnt how to shut up and just let the images demonstrate things by themselves more often the show would be even better.

The salami powered rocket is an all time classic. Any time you see a rocket powered with lunch meat you're watching good TV. Ming dynasty rocket chair was good too, Confederate rocket- I guess I'm just a total rocket geek. The one where they blew up a house with bug spray was sweet. the boom-lift catapult was fun... man there's so many dozens of great ones I'd never know where to start...

Oh, but I think I know my personal favorite- the one where they blew up water heaters (and I guess that was pretty rocket-y as well...) That was cool and pretty scary all at the same time.

C'mon, how can you beat the one where they shoot down the moon hoax theories one by one? Those conspeersee nuts would hang their heads in shame after seeing this, if they had any shame.

As fun as some of the more explosive and elaborate myths they've tested I've also found interesting a lot of the more low key myths they've tested like whether you actually get wetter if you run instead of walking in the rain or if goldfish actually have only 10 seconds memory.

Phone book friction! My all time favorite.

The Jaws Special (of course), and due to a childhood interest in disasters, the Hindenburg Special.

The last couple of weeks, where they seem to have gotten away from the "biggest boom possible" mentality, have been one of the show's best runs. The duct tape episode was money.

I have to agree. The duct tape episode was a classic. I'm not surprised that Ken liked it.

I still laugh when I think about the phone book episode, especially when the announcer says, "Here's something you don't hear often: you CAN try this at home!" Has anyone here tried it?

I don't know, Nev. The entheusiasim is part of the fun. They are having a ball doing this stuff, and I like it.
Also, the differance between jamie and Adam's personalitys is interesting to watch.

There's almost a Lonesome Dove Gus and Woodrow dynamic to their relationship. One is the free spirit. The other is more down to business who tolerates his friend's antics.

How much more time do you think they have?

The rule about television shows is:

Four years is a good run. Seven years is a excellent run. Anything after 7 years is borrowed time.

It depends on how many original myths they can continue test. Right now they have a good cast of characters. If they can keep getting good ideas, it will run for a long time.

My favourite TV show. The best all-time episode in my opinion was when they blew-up the cement truck - beautiful! I think the biggest part left over was the engine. Another fave was then they looked at the myths from the latest James Bond movie "Casino Royale." Blowing-up the propane tank using the minigun was not too shabby
