Awww yeah, I'm looking forward to this.

I don't know, really. I think Stallone is clever. He's always been, and sucessfully resurrecting both the Rocky and Rambo franchises, as well as packing so many stars in this one prove it.

But he's also a known hack, and well... I'm not sure he's been able to give all these people enough moments to shine. And I don't think it's the right time to do a Commando-style action film, either. People these days expect their fast-food to be more sophisticated.

We'll see.

Regarding The Expendables, I recall a Spanish language newspaper pointing out that the plot involves a Latin American dictatorship, only one Latin American country currently has a dictator, Cuba.

That does remind me; speaking of mercenary films, has anyone heard about The Wild Geese remake? The two Wild Geese films (1978 and 1985) featured mercenaries.

I wouldn't exactly call Venezuela a shining beacon of democracy.

True. But until Chavez decides elections are contrarevolutionary, he is a democratically elected leader.

I think Honduras should qualify, though. Many countries have ended up recognising the new government after the coup, but now and then news about political opositors being arrested or killed make the foreign headlines.

Oops, forgot to note (there's no mention of it in the trailer) that this movie also stars Eric Roberts, Charisma Carpenter, and the late Brittany Murphy. This keeps getting better and better, doesn't it?

You know who else should'be been in this cast but isn't? I just realized... Carl Weathers. If you're Stallone and you're making an all-star action movie, why not?

(Reportedly both Jean-Claude and Seagal were offered roles but turned them down.)

Stallone and Weathers don't seem to be in good terms. When he did the mega-interview for AICN promoting John Rambo, he implied they had a falling out during Rocky IV and poked fun at him several times, calling him a wimp.
