Robin Hood opened strong last weekend, though word of mouth does not bode well.
Interestingly, the all-time box office champ among medieval-themed epics is Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Second on their list is Braveheart. (You'd think it'd be the other way around, eh? Sorry, noooo.)
Anyway, can you guess what the third all-time medieval pic is, at least according to BOM? Have fun speculating, then click on the link below to see if you're right.

| What counts as a medieval movie is a bit unclear on that list. Surely if fantasy stuff like Dragonheart or Willow is included so should be the Lord of the Rings movies which would be the highest grossing. |

| I'll be the first to admit that I liked Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Granted, Kevin Costner was as dull as the spoon the sheriff of Nottingham wanted to cut out Robin's heart with, but Alan Rickman and Morgan Freeman were great. Also, afterwards my friends and I theater hopped and watched Terminator 2 again. |

RHPoT was good for the simple reason that it was fun. Rickman was chewing scenery and the film had a sense of adventure. Robin Hood is about adventure, not dull emo.
It doesn't look like they adjust for inflation. That will always skew things.
I agree with CF, if you include the likes of Willow, then you have to include LOTR.

If there are no firearms or motor cars, and sword play is rampant, who cares if dragons lurk in the shrubbery?...a nice shrubbery with a wooden fence around it. Nie!
