I'm ripping off Brad's self-motivational tool to hold myself to this one. So see if you can guess. It's a half-good/half-lousy movie for younger audiences (teens/20s), with a third act that is awesome. It's been covered by several other review sites, but never given a full-blown Jabootu-length dissection.

Nope.

Hint: 80s movie that tanked at the box office.

Nope X 4.

Hint: It stars no big names, except for a small but key role by a distinguished elderly British actor (i.e. he gets a Sir in front of his name, although he doesn't have it in the credits of this one).

Dragonslayer is in fact 100% awesome.

BTW Peter McNichol is a reasonably biggish name, what with film roles like the (admittedly excreble) Porky's films and Ghostbusters II and TV shows like Ally McBeal.

As I recall, Dragonslayer had some really bad stuff (none-too-great dialogue and a snotty attitude toward religion), and some really good stuff, namely.... one seriously bad-ass dragon.

Say, Food. I notice you're reviewing an early-80's Disney flick. I was gonna try and flex my writing muscles and review one Disney flick I liked (The Black Hole, and a couple that are out-and-out turds (right now I have my sights set on Midnight Madness and Condorman), then do a full-blown praise for an unsung classic from that time. Wanna do a Disney project, find one or two more you'd be up for?

That wouldn't be a bad idea, I'd be up for that.

Only problem is, I can't really think of any early 80s Disney flicks that get me that excited. Unless there are some that I don't know are Disney.

Condorman, eh? Damn, I couldn't even stay awake through that, let alone type about it. You're tough as nails!

Nah, just masochistic. I may rent them and find they're so boring they're not worth a write-up. We can brainstorm; if I think of one or two that you might be interested, I'll give a shout-out.
