I agree about Superman. It was good, but there were a few things that should have been done diffrently. Yes, Can You Read My Mind should have been used for another superhero, like the magician, Zatanna.

| I can't stand Terminator 2. The action scenes are really good, but the rest is so dumm and pretentious. One of the worst lines in history is Arnie saying "Why do humans cry?" This was really the beginning of the end for Schwarzenegger as he started to tone down the violence in his films. |

The English Patient. I fell sound asleep. All I remember is sand.
Fellini Satyricon. The only movie I for which I demanded my money back. My ticket was only 2 dollars and they did indeed refund it.
Ghandi. Pure propaganda. Total claptrap.

I hadn't seen Manhattan in a long while, so I decided to check it out again. It's now in my overrated list. The cinematography was some of the best I've ever seen (it deserved an Academy Award, and it wasn't even NOMINATED! Stupid Oscar voters). But everything else... it was a buncha pretensious New Yawkahs whining about their bad relationships.
To make matters worse, here comes Woody Allen playing a 42-year-old in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl--played by a 17-year-old Mariel Hemingway. Allen wrote her character as being very mature for her age; I'm gonna be a cynic and say he was just trying to defend himself. But it worked too well. Hemingway was the only character who came across as a human being; everyone else was too busy trying to be clever, and Allen led the pack. |

Blame it on the cinematographers branch; they have been attacked for ignoring Gordon Willis on numerous occasions. |

I was checking the guy out on IMDb, and you were right. He's got a helluva good track record, and it floors me to see he didn't get nominated for Godfather I or II. Industry politics, maybe, or is it a case of the insiders in the biz not being as smart as they think they are? I'm betting it was both. |

"Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith"
Granted, as far as I know no one claimed it was a masterpiece. However, there was an annoying amount of "OMFG!!! It totally vindicates the prequels!!!11" No nerds, it didn't. It didn't, it just... no... |

Does it also leave its victims crippled with insanity? I ask because it is on my "must see" list. |

The Day After Tomorrow. I don't understand why Ken hasn't reviewed it yet. It's dull, pretentious, and hits us over the head with the message so badly that I had to visit a trauma care center afterwards.

It's hard to see madness in yourself. But after seeing "House of the Dead," I became convinced I'd have to watch anything else made by Boll, as he is this generation's Ed Wood. So I guess that's insanity by any measure.

I never saw why people thought of Titanic as a masterpiece. The movie was amazing in its details, its recreation of that era...but there wasn't anything interesting going on. To quote James Lileks:
"“A Night to Remember” told ten great stories simply; “Titanic” tells one boring story at great length."
The only person in that movie I found interesting was Kate Winslet, and that's probably just because of my eternal crush on her.
