On a slightly different note (but still in Hell) - I never realized how much of my time was wasted watching commercials. I rarely watch TV anymore - but when I do, I've noticed the oddest thing. Try channel surfing on cable (or in my case, satellite). I swear, 90% of the time I keep running into the commercials instead of actually previewing the feature listed on the bottom. I'm beginning to think it's some sort of useless superpower that would gain me entrance in the Legion of Substitute Heroes (if they were REALLY hard up that week). Maybe, running into multiple showings of "Overboard" is something like that,eh?

When watching something on commercial TV, I usually tape the show to watch later, so I can FF through the commercials -- an interesting thing I noticed is that when I've got a bunch of shows to get to on one tape, and I FF or RW the tape (but not on 'play'), and stop at random, when I press Play, it's almost always a commercial that will be on at that spot.

I'm beginning to suspect that when you're watching TV - you're really watching commercials with some teaser entertainment thrown in to keep you watching.

Don't worry, it's eventually going to go one of two ways. Either everything will be product placements, or a section of the screen will be dedicated to showing commercials throughout the show.

The ROPe gives you three options, convert, submit, or die. There is a fourth, resist.

You don't know television hell until you live somewhere where, no matter what time of the day or night it is, at least one channel is always showing The Jerry Springer Show.

I am happy to report that, in my neck of the woods, as far as I am aware, The Jerry Springer Show is NOT readily available. Remember, I am talking regular cable, and I don't know about late-late night programming. But this part of Mississippi seems to be relatively Springer-free at the moment.

I think I'm tuned in to Radio in Hell. That's where you turn on the car radio to catch the last 3 chords of your favorite song, followed by the announcer saying "So, that's the end of a full commercial-free hour set; now HERE COME THE COMMERCIALS!". Repeat on all available channels.

Big deal. There's a radio station here I used to listen to (left the job since) where they promised "an hour of commercial free talk" which was constantly interrupted by commercials any way. The only explanation for it I could come up with was that the commercials had no singing.
