Hey there, hope you are well. Read your review on the above named film. Was an interesting read... My question: Why were you so concerned about who it was made/ directed by in the end few paragraphs of your writings? Thinking of using this film as an comparison to the beauty of the statue venus de milo in my recent architectural and cultural studies but your views have made my thinking a little rocky. Please advise. Ros.

To be honest, the only thing this film should be used for - is a comparison between good films and poorly done films. Guess which catagory this one falls under?

I like reading those parts of the reviews; sometimes knowing what the origins of something is goes a long way to understanding why (Why, Lord, Why!?!).
For example, I got conned into seeing House of the Dead on opening night. A movie so bad, so horrible, I firmly believe that ifyou claim to be a movie fan you must see it at least once.
I always wondered, what the heck were they smoking?
Then in an interview with Uwe Boll, months later, he mentioned that he was hired to do a horror movie, but the SEGA exec's wanted a comedy like Scream or Scary Movie, so they kept going behind him and adding stuff in. Instead of fighting them all the time, he'd just cut out whatever they put in, planning to film new scenes and slip them in ninja-like, when it was too late to change anything.
Then he found himself up to the deadline and without enough time to re-film the crap they threw in, so he more or less Frankenstein-ed the thing.
Probably still would have sucked, but not in the memorable way it is now. And I belive him, because A) SEGA's prominently featured, B) the executives got to 'play zombie' as extras, and C) According to IMDB Uwe Boll has been tapped by Romero to do the remake of Day of the Dead, so he can't suck that bad.

Uhm ... why not? Romero made one or two good films, but so did George Lucas.

Well, I was kinda hoping that people would ignore that ('cause it's similar to what I said once)
Seriously though, while I agree with you whole heartedly the Dead series is Romero's baby. It seems the man doesn't really care what he's filming, but he does pay very close attention to the dead films. He spent the last 10-15 years trying to drum up money to make his precious Land of the Dead; part of the reason Dawn of the Dead was remade was because, from what I read, they wanted to make sure he was relevant enough to modern viewers to draw an audience.
Plus he's pretty single minded; I read the initial Day of the Dead script, and most of what was removed became Land of the Dead (which ends on a sequel styled note, and according to a friend he read the sequel is already in the works).
So, I figured that he's not always on, but he does care about his baby.
