I'm down in Florida visiting family. We go to lunch at Ruby Tuesday an Applebees/TGIFridays type place where there's movie posters, basball gloves and sundries pinned to the wall. At the end of the wall opposite where I'm sitting something catches my eye. It's a Bluebeard Poster, a one sheet announcing "Burton is...Bluebeard" and going with how they really didn't know how to sell this Turkey the poster projects the movie as a kind of Hitchcokian murder/psychological suspense piece. With Burton placing his hands around Joey Heahterton's neck and her frightened, if vacant, stare at the camera. And on each side of the poster in a row of white boxes is a picture of each wife, the actress' name, the method of her death and a black symbol representing the same. They also had a poster for The Pink Angels and a lobby card for Frankenstien Created Woman.

Wow -- just -- wow.
A poster for Pink Angels? That's gotta be worth something.
Reality is a crutch for people who can't face up to science fiction. |

A movie themed place, with posters like that? Girl, that is too cool!

Reminds me of those fast food restaurants I once saw in Dublin, the Eddie Rockets franchise. Does it exist on the US? Anyway, they serve great food and they look like those archetypical 50s - 60s American cafes.
If I could have something like that with some Jabootu extra, like some B-movie memorabilia, I'd eatthere everyday. |

Yup, but they are called "Johnny Rocket's" here. Don't know if it is actually the same chain, but they even have a spot in the food court at the local mall, a little slice of '50 soda counter between a Wendy's and a sushi bar.

Went back yesterday, I like the chow, and spotted a poster for The Beast in the Cellar, Walking Tall, and some manque Billy Jack knock off with Timothy Bottoms, A Small Town in Texas. What really was awesome was a framed color poster for The Taking of Pellham One Two Three. I would have bought that right off the wall if I could.

Have they introduced some huge new ham sandwich lately? The Burton poster might be subliminal advertising.
PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court? HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

(From the Johnny Rockets website)
"Guests also enjoy an all-American diner look and feel, servers who know the secret behind getting ketchup out of the bottle, tabletop jukeboxes that belt out tunes for a nickel and authentic décor."
Yep, I think it is the same franchise, because everything looks the same, and I remember the working mini-jukebox thing, it added a lot of fun to the experience. |

It's funny because the jukeboxes work at the food court, too.
And it's also odd that I only go to three different malls and yet all three have a Johnny Rockets in them.
