People, we are talking about Hollywood. It's all about getting in the kids with all the hot young actors they love. Here's your real cast:
Lindsay Lohan and Tom Welling as the Rosenbergs
Chad Michael Murray as Morton Sobel
Ben Affleck as Joe McCarthy
The Rock as Roy Cohn
Paul Walker as Eisenhower
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin as Krushchev
Camero appearances by Paris Hilton as "The Red Spy Queen" and Jimmy Fallon as Alger Hiss

Can we license Gabriel's "Red Rain" for the love scene? Somebody call his people.

I'm posting this IMDB article, since it's related to "Brokeback Mountain":
'Brokeback' Star Slammed by Former School
Brokeback Mountain actress Michelle Williams has been disowned by her former school because of her role in the controversial gay cowboy romance. Williams, who attended exclusive Santa Fe Christian School in San Diego, California, has been blasted by the school's headmaster as "offensive" for acting the long-suffering wife of a homosexual ranch hand, played by Heath Ledger. Jim Hopson has branded the Oscar nominee a poor role model, and hopes his education establishment won't be linked to the film's themes. He tells the San Diego Union Tribune, "We don't want to have anything to do with her in relation to that movie. Michelle doesn't represent the values of this institution. Brokeback Mountain basically promotes a lifestyle we don't promote."
And now my two cents: I enjoyed "Brokeback mountain". It is a very good film, only a bit slow if you're not into Ang Lee's signature style, but well worthy of seing. I found sad that many people tend to approve / disapprove the movie just because its main topic. It's absurd. Like it or not, there are gay people, and they're not asking our opinion or our permission to carry out their lives. They simply exist.
I'm happy to see there's been relatively small controversy on the movie, as I said it is good enough to deserve an unbiased viewing, and chances are this is what it's getting 99% of the time.
Which doesn't mean I don't found the reaction of this particular collective (the school) almost a blasphemy. Who they think they are to disown a former pupil? Do they think they are her parents or something? Schools are there to provide education, not to take children and make them become what they think model citizens should be like. |

Mr Hopson needs to bone up on his Christianity.
Even if we accept his premises - being gay is bad, etc. - it still doesn't follow that films like this "glorify" homosexuality.
And even if it DID, there's the whole matter of distinguishing sin and sinner.
Even though I'm no longer a Christian, I still defend it to skeptics and mockers as belief system with a great deal of profound, powerful and worthy aspects to it.
Bozos like Hopson do not make this easy.
