Kolchak stalks the night no more.
First Don Knotts, now Darren McGavin...
It's just starting to come down off the wire services that Darren McGavin passed away this morning after a long illness (I believe he had a major stroke a few years back).
Well, you know how they say celebs die in three's - wonder who'll round out this trio?

A fun actor, no matter what show he was in. He brightened up some of the X-Files episodes in the latter seasons.

I will always remember Darren McGavin as the father in the classic movie A Christmas Story. Hope he had his "leg lamp" waiting for him when he got to heaven...

It's a shame the only Major Award he won for A Christmas Story was that lamp. I'm gonna miss that guy.

My Night Stalker DVDs are a wonderful reminder of the days when I worked part-time for New York City's Dept. of Parks (I was a college student) in a senior citizen's center. I would always take my "lunch" breaks to coordinate with "Night Stalker" showing on TV and rush upstairs to watch it. You'll be missed Mr. McGavin.
