This sounds like one for Jabootu. From the Swedish review "Ultraviolet could have been cut down to a music video for some Belgian euro-disco act. If it had been 1992."
In the same paper, there's the suggestion that Rene Russo and Dennis Quaid should be whipped in public for "Yours, Mine and Ours". The only thing that keeps me from suggesting this for Mr. Bregg is that it's a comedy - bad comedies are usually painful.

| Just seen it, and it is as bad as that 10% suggests. With sci-fi films like this one or "Aeon Flux" the whole honeymoon between box office and fanastic cinema is gonna end real soon. And the sad thing is that it would be fair, since most of the horror/sci-fi/fantastic movies released these last seasons suck. Big time. Let's hope "V for Vendetta" turns out a good movie. I'm crossing my fingers... |

Someone - Ursula LeGuin, I think - said that there's essentially two kinds of sci fi, "Thoughts" and "Spectacle," and whenever you hear that sci fi is "back" vis-a-vis Hollywood or TV, bank on it being the latter type.

So what would a movie like "The Creeping Terror" or "Plan 9 from outer space" be?

I don't think SF or fantasy movies are going away anytime soon. They work too well when they do work. It's not like most of the "big" movies from last year weren't SF or fantasy (or comic book, in the case of Batman Begins).
Ironically, I think there are quite a lot of unusual, hopefully intelligent, at the very least INTERESTING SF and fantasy movies due out in the next 9 months.
A Scanner Darkly The Fountain Idiocracy The Prestige* Southland Tales Sunshine Pan's Labyrinth Apcalypto* And of course, SNAKES ON A PLANE.
*May not be fantasy, but looks like it.
