Funny, I do the same thing.
My idea would be to throw out the first two thirds of the book and start the movie as Dagny is trying to keep the railroad afloat despite shortages and government regulation. From there, let the story progress naturally. You have three set pieces: the train accident, Dagny's plane crash and Galt's rescue. Galt's speech gets cut to five minutes. It'll lose some of its intellectual weight, but if the movie is done right, it would just be redundant carp, anyway. |
