quote: Well color me suprise on Star Wars 1: THE PHANTOM MENACE. It seems like everyone jumps on the "let's bash SW1:TPM" bandwagon. Sheesh people, give it a rest. It's not the worst sequal in the world. Sure Jar Jar was in it, but the rest of the movie is good. Not an Oscar worthey film, but it's an ok movie.
Also Ghost Busters II, wasn't that bad either.
One could argue that SW:TPM could never have possibly lived up to its hype regardless, but then you had to go shoot your credibility in the foot by trying to defend GHOSTBUSERS 2.

The first Cannonball Run was bad enough, but the sequels... ouch.
What?!?!
Cannonball Run is a classic. That was the first time I saw Jackie Chan on the big screen.
It was a remake of "The Gumball Rally" which was only mildly amusing. "Cannonball Run" was not as good. Anyone want to bet AGAINST the idea that the writers of both movies saw "Wacky Racers"?

2010: Ronald Reagan Will Destroy The World is a serious contender for "Worst Sequel." Personally, though, I've got to go with Return of the Jedi.

Ghostbusters 2 was a bland retread (even though there's some entertaining momemts, IMO) but it's nowhere near as bad as being the second worst sequel ever made, especially on a list that omits such Jabootu favourites as Highlander 2 and Superman IV.
And Jaws 3 being on the list but not The Revenge? That film made Jaws 3 look as good as the original (thought to be fair the writer acknowledges that 4 could be worse, but it's the bad 3D that gives Jaws 3 the edge). |
