True, Kdraut. Its the gas containment that makes it work in the first place.
Now, to keep absolute quiet, you need sub sonic projectiles. No "Sonic boom" or crack, to draw added attention.
Some rifles use a supressor with regular fast bullets, but the crack, being from the bullet after it has passed you, means its still hard to determin exactly where the actual shot came from.
