I guess I was more sympathetic to Juno's character than most were. No, and not because she was the hottest.
C'on, Sarah was way hotter.
You knew that with a flick starring women only, we had to end like this xD |

Negative, Ghostrider. The pattern is full.

Or perhaps you missed that part where she raised her right leg and touched her own ear with it?

Spoilers...
I would point out that after the initial attack, Sarah, Sam, Rebecca and initially even Beth all abandoned Holly, who was crippled. Juno was the only one who went back to defend her, so if its unforgivible that Juno left Beth to the crawlers, that really doesnt place the actions of everyone else all that much better, considering they were willing to leave Holly behind. Of course, everyone was in a panic, but Juno was in shock as well, and probably reasoned that Beth would die in a few moments anyway, if she was capable of reasoning at all.
On the DVD, its clear that Beth IS trying to cry out to Juno, trying to say "Don't leave me..." and gurgling, but its so faint I couldnt hear it in the theatre.
Prehaps the most disturbing thing about Juno's actions is my suspiscion that I would act no better, and very likely worse, then her.

*SPOILER* (although by this point in the thread, it's a bit moot)
I took that Juno thought she'd killed Beth outright. She thinks she's about to be attacked again by the humanoids again and doesn't think to check if she really has killed one of her friends.
I felt the great tragedy of the film is that Sarah and Juno could have both escaped if they'd worked together. They were the most competent of the friends and had the best chance. However, Sarah learning that Juno had been sleeping with her husband AND stabbed Beth made her think Juno couldn't be trusted. So she wounds Juno and leaves her to a nasty fate. However, but doing so she also traps herself.
I took from the birthday cake motif (that you don't apparently get a resolution to in the US version thanks to the changed ending) that Sarah had indeed descended as low as she could go.

Does this film have anything to do with Jeff Long's horror novel, THE DESCENT?

| Its not based on the novel The Descent, although it has some similarities. |
