Jack Warden was an actor that you just "knew" if you were a big fan of movies. He popped up a lot in movies. Mostly as gruff antogonist or as a cut-the-chase buddy who would stick up for the hero.
I think I first saw him in "All the President's Men" men but it wasn't a noteworthy performance. I really only noticed him when I first saw "Used Cars" with Kurt Russell(way back when). After that, he seemed to pop up everywhere. A submarine crewman in "Run Silent, Run Deep". A suicial judge in "..And Justice for All". Abrasive father in "Problem Child".
He was also in the television show version of "Bad News Bears" which played a lot on Nickelodian. I watched it on and off.
I have to admit. I'm sad to see him called home. He was an interesting character actor and he definately could keep your attention.
Good-bye, Jack. You made your mark. And you be missed.

I loved that old guy. He was great in classic movies like From Here to Eternity and he was just as good at light comedy in more recent movies like While You Were Sleeping.
A real pro. Sorry he's gone.
