He must be a hippy. Hippies are EEEEVIL, as Ironside kept on saying us, but eveybody was to busy smoking pot and practising free love to notice.

I have to admit, Captain Euro's basecap cap is the Cherry atop his Hot Lame Sundae.

By the way, the woman with him? I assume her ass thrusts out like that because of the way her two legs merge into one down at the ankle. It must be the only way she can keep her balance.

PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court?
HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

Considering how many immigrants there are in Europe these days the Capn's Euroteam seems awfuly lillywhite (save for the one token black guy). Just goes to show how different Euro pc is from US pc.

I love the bio of Divider:

RESUME: Ruthless speculator, curator and collector of ancient curiosities, DAVID VIDERIUS is a former financier.

Ruthless curator? I guess when public hours are over at the museum, he gets people out of there... by any means necessary!

That's right. And they are going to unify Europe and get rid of all that confusing "culture" and stuff that makes parts different from the other parts, thus confusing weak minds about the real nature of the perfection of Euroness. And then they will cleanse the undesirable elements and it will last for 1,000 years...

Hummm...the "Capt."s real name is Adam Andros. Sounds like the moniker for a rock band.

Well Sardu, if an American had written Captain Euro among the Capn's sidekicks would be a German Turk, a French Algerian and a British Pakistani and they would all celebrate their wonderful diversity.

Shouldn't she be telling a Jihadist Muslim that?

I'm surprised nobody's glomped onto this bit here:

I'm sorry, but being non-political is supposed to be the sign of a true European? Are they talking about the kind of non-politics where you inject your opinion into everything and expect to be taken seriously while sitting on your hands and talk down to people who actually try to get something done?

Actually, it's no wonder why Europa's so worried about that smoke grenade. They won't have the time to properly debate, pass resolutions against smoke grenade use, and wait until somebody else decides to enforce the resolution before it goes off in their faces.

Adam Andros? Reminds me of (gasp) Reno Raines.

And no, as an European I don't consider myself non-political. And how does someone become multicultural? Does it help if I eat cous cous or chinese food now and then or am I suppossed to buy African music as well?

And could somebody tell Captain Euro that the casts from both "Space: 1999" and "The Black Hole" called and that they want their uniforms back?

Now, now, CC, don't insult The Black Hole like that.

I'm just amazed that this cartoon has been around for almost eight years.

If Captain Euro was really representive of a typical European, he'd be about 50 years old, on a pension, and childless. He call in sick to work about 20 days a year, he'd take a vacation from superhero work about a month and a half every year, and he'd spend a lot of time loitering at streetside cafes surrounded by tendrils of cigarette smoke while exuding an air of world-weary sophistication.

Doesn't that mean "Earth Man?"

I dunno. I like European comics, I certainly won't knock someone for being proud of their country (or, I guess, trans-national unelected bureaucracy) but the sheer lame of Captain Euro seems to float off the screen and achieve sentience. It's a pity, because the basic question of "what does it mean to be a European patriot?" is certainly one worth asking. But Captain Haddock would so slap this guy around that Tintin would ask him to stop.

One of the more obscure characters from the Golden Age was "Shock Gibson," whose real name was Robert Gibson. When the war started, Robert Gibson joined the Army.

At no time did his sergeant realize that Private Robert Gibson was, in reality, the dashing superhero Shock Gibson.

...

I don't remember where I was going with this anecdote about Shock Gibson, but he's cooler than Captain Euro.

The website says he has pledged to handle difficult criminal situations with intellect, culture and logic rather than violence.

(Reuters) A powerful explosion destroyed the Atomium Building earlier today, killing Captain Euro and several members of his team. Video surveillence cameras recorded a large truck driven by a man appearing to be of Middle Eastern ethnicity crashing through the perimeter fence just moments before the explosion.

"We believe it was a fuel/fertilizer bomb similar to what was used in America in Oklahoma City," said Detective Heinrich Stavros or the Criminalpolizei.

Donna Eden, a.k.a. "Europa" did survive the blast, but with severe, disfiguring injuries. She was able to issue a brief statement before being put into a medically-induced coma.

"Captain Euro did the best he could," she said, "sensing trouble, he hurriedly ran from his painting easel and tried to confront the onrushing truck with his eclectic blend of culture, logic, and intellect. His naturally curious nature and international 'savoir faire' was powerless as he was struck full force by the truck and his mangled body was thrown into a particularly nice stand of European walnut trees on the grounds."

The future of the European Union now stands in the balance as it's greatest protector passes into history.
