"Australian actress Naomi Watts has reportedly been offered the lead role in the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 horror classic The Birds. Armageddon director Michael Bay's company will produce the new version of the film. She would play the role of Melanie Daniels, which was played by Tippi Hedren, in the original, according to moviehole.net. The script is being re-worked by Leslie Dixon, who updated The Thomas Crown Affair for Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo in 1999. The movie features a wealthy San Francisco socialite who follows a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town where birds suddenly begin to launch vicious attacks on people."
Okay, just mentioning Michael Bay's name in the same paragraph with Hitchcock borders on sacrilege (are you listening, Lucas?). Saying he's gonna be the PRODUCER of this thing....?

| The script of the Alfred Hitchcock orignal film contained quite a few changes from the original Daphne du Maurier SHORT STORY. Why not go back to the Daphne du Maurier STORY, if you're going to remake THE BIRDS? The original story is about a farmer and his family, besieged by birds on their farm. Or better yet, film du Maurier's "The Alibi" or "Not After Midnight?" |

Oh, for cryin out loud! Did this movie really need to be re-made? Hollywood needs to pull thier head outta thier ass and come up with NEW ideas.

I'm just waiting for the North By Northwest remake where Ashton Kutcher is the stoner son of an ad executive who get's involved with a ring of spies and it turns out the femme fatale is actually a sassy Chris Tucker in drag as an undercover FBI agent.
...and by saying it outloud I've probably set it in motion. I'll show myself out.

How can you remake NORTH BY NORTHWEST in an age when practically nobody travels by Pullman car? I'd say "Film Joseph Hays' "Missing... and Presumed Dead," but, as I've said before, I don't trust today's scriptwriters to adapt a Candleleight Romance. |

| A few posts up, I mentioned Daphne du Maurier's short story, "Not After Midnight." Is anyone on this website familiar with it? Does anyone agree with me that John Goodman and Farah Fawcett would be very good as the Stolls? |
