Welcome back...me, I guess. Time sure flies when you're sitting on your fat butt doing nothing for six months.
Kick around the new digs, and let us know what you think. Any suggestions are available, and changes are probably better made before all the furniture is moved in. Careful how you phrase things, though. Our new interior decorator is such a bitch. |

The only problem with going over the new forum is that we haven't figured out a way to transfer over the post counts and goofy titles Paul came up with. People seem to like those, so until we figure that out (if we can), we keep this board up and running.
I don't see any reason why folks can't post to the new board, too, if they care to. However, that's really Chris and Paul's territory, not mine.
Of course, having a comment capacity available in the reviews and blog entries is new, too.
PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court?
HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

Yeah, I'm not sure either, Ken. Since Paul would have to be master of whichever forum works (I'm clueless about board moderation and setup), I guess we'll let him decide when he claws free of his obligations. What I could do for now, just to simplify, is have the 'forum' link on the new site zip to this message board. In fact, that's such a good idea, I'm going to go do it right ... now.

Happy New Year, everyone, and BIG thanks and congratulations to Ken & Chris Magyar for their monumental efforts in porting the site over. It looks great, guys!
Regarding the forum, right now I'm thinking we'll just keep this one up & basically shoehorn it into the new site structure -- existing posts, handles & titles included. (These would be totally unconnected from any posts you add to articles, blog entries & the like.)
Pending some technical details I've yet to work out with Chris M., I think we'll eventually make the new site (Jabootu.net) supersede the current one by assuming the Jabootu.com domain. That won't happen until every bit of old content is ported over though, and I'd also like to provide pointers so that search engines can easily find old articles in their new locations.
Since the main site & the forum run on different software & different servers, there are a few issues to iron out. The end result will probably involve changing the forum's URL from http://Jabootu.com/forum to http://forum.Jabootu.com.
That's about all I know right now. I'm sure we'll work out any kinks in the next few weeks. Enjoy the new diggs in the meanwhile!

Perhaps, since the move to a new forum implies a death and rebirth of sorts, the Buddhist model should be applied. One's post count and quality could be used to determine "karma". Then one could be reincarnated in the new forum according to his or her karma. Some would be tiny fleas. Some would be majestic buffalo, or elephants. I figure I would come back as a Spiny anteater...
