Having tackled Battlefield Earth and Daredevil...
Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett reuinite once again to bring us Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Perhaps not as MST-ie worthy as Star Trek: The Motion Picture or even some of the Next-Gen offerings, but, hey, we takes what we can gets.

I actually kinda liked Trek VI, but I'm willing to give the RiffTrax a chance.

VI really isn't worthy of being spoofed. It has it's weak moments, but overall is a good ST film. Now V is worthy of all the blasting it can get.

I liked Trek VI a lot when I first saw it, but each successive time I see it, I like it less. As it is, I think it's definitely better than Trek V, but still nowhere close to Treks II-IV.

You know what, I agree. I still enjoy VI but not nearly as much as when I first saw it. And I can't stand IV any more. Meanwhile, III has actually improved for me, maybe because I'm not as sick of it as the others, and I always liked TMP and now with Robert Wise's directors cut out I rank it every bit as high as II.

What hurts VI is that they drew the "end of the Cold War" analogy too close. Plus the entire Klingons quoting Shakespeare was always hokey. It does though provide a nice send off for the crew. II-III-IV provide a nice story arc and I enjoy IV for in some ways being a homage to the more comedic TOS episodes.

^Yup. On top of that, having a Vulcan female who quoted regulations seemed to be a deliberate way of saying, "Sorry folks. We wanted Kirstie Alley, but she wouldn't do it. Just pretend this is her."

I've listened to/watched the Star Trek V Rifftrax. It certainly deserved everything Nelson and Murphy threw at it, and they did a pretty good job trashing it. But VI? Well, it certainly isn't an unriffable movie, but it sure is a strange choice considering all the other more deserving films out there. Though I do agree 100% with Terrahawk's criticisms.
But hey, all three are together again (again). Who can complain about that!
(OMG, I see they've also done Battlefield Earth. They've finally found a way to entice me to watch that movie.) |

Not that I'll complain about anything that brings the three back together but if they want to riff on another Trek movie, I think Generations would have been a better choice. You get to keep all the running Kirk and Shatner jokes with the addition of manic-depressive Data and Malcom McDowell as Yet Another Villain. They're definitely going for the full bell curve of movies though, with Battlefield Earth and Island of Dr. Moreau at one end and Fellowship of the Ring at the other, with a lot of range in between, like this one.

Yeah, but VI is the one where the Shat thought his ass looked too big on camera and when they refused to reshoot one scene he made them shrink it with CGI.
