Now that the entire USA has apparently gone into an ANS Feeding Frenzy, shouldn't Jabootu take note of her as well?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758754/
Her last movie - Illegal Aliens. It gets an 8.0 (!) average - but I refuse to believe that a movie where ANS was the leading lady (and presumably the experienced thespian) can be good.

Illegal Aliens hasn't even been released yet. Any movie with Joanie Lauer (Chyna from wrestling) isn't going to award winning except possibly with Razzies.

| Sigh. If only Bruno Kirby had gotten this much attention when he died. He was a fine actor who made better movies and weighed less. |

Bruno Kirby? Forget it. Gerald Ford's passing didn't get this much coverage.
This is a terrible thing to say, but it's true. I'm not the least bit sorry that this woman is gone. Everything I've seen about her tells me she was a pretty horrible person, and quite destructive toward those around her. But she's like the zombie party guest from Hell: now that she's dead, she just won't LEAVE! |

| I blame media frenzy, the short attention span of the public and human stupidity, not necessarily in that order. At least we won't have to watch a bad movie starring her and released post-death a la Aaliyah. |

Well, that's the society we live in -- the "News" will devote a lot of time to walking freak shows like Ms. Smith, because, supposedly, that's what people want to know about. The same week Smith died, singers Frankie Laine and Barbara McNair died, put on the news to see what they had to say about that -- for Laine, little more was mentioned was "singer of Rawhide"; didn't see anything on the tube about McNair; both had long lives and careers that could be celebrated, and their work made this a world a better place -- but I guess that's not really news worthy (yeah, I know, nothing new there).

While its a tragedy someone has died, I fail to understand the obsessiveness on ANS. I couldn't understand the obsessiveness on Princess Diana, but at least that woman did something with herself.
When ANS first was 'discovered' I thought she was beautiful, and I agreed with those who suggested her appearance suggested Marilyn Monroe. Her acting was horrible, and by all rights after her first movie and implants, she should have faded away like most Playmates do.
When she got her reality show, the best commentary on it was from MadTV, which had a skit where Children & Families took her kid away for being abused. Their evidence was the reality show. She refused to let the cameras off her son, who was obviously shy and unhappy, and I don't doubt his death lies at her feet. She whored out pictures of her family and every aspect of her personal life. From a segment on MSNBC (which should be called the ANS Channel) it was her and her Lawyer/Lover/Scumsucker that sold pics of her son just prior to his death.
The only thing more disgusting than her life was that of her supposed loved ones. How the hell you can claim to care for someone and not try to step in and stop her at any point is beyond me. Good GOD! They couldn't even say they didn't know, there was a freaking reality show starring her!
I also find it odd that she had any 'star power' at all by the time she died. She was in FIVE movies; and other than Illegal Aliens the most recent was 1997. She's been consistently shot down in her attempts to get her late 'husbands' money (which I actually sided with her; doesn't matter what she did or didnt do, a persons last will & testament should be honored and just because you dont like it doesn't make it right to contest. She did, after all, make him happy).
Personally, I think Children & Families should be held accountable for her sons death. They had all the evidence they needed that she was unhealthy for her son, and they let it slide. And the infant should be taken from anyone related to her in any way shape or form, and given to people as far from that family as possible.

The problem is Diana died within twenty-four hours of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa probably did more on any given lunch hour than Diana accomplished in a year, yet Diana got 90% of the news coverage and (judging from the media coverage, anyway) the lion's share of the world's sympathy and tears.
It's quite simple really: through the looking glass that is the television media, youth, looks, and glamour are all that matter. |

I felt the same way, but, as my mother pointed out, Mother Teresa, of Blessed Memory, is going to be canonized, as is Dorothy Day. Dorothy Day didn't even WANT to be Saint Dorothy; she didn't like it when people called her a saint. |

Yes... this was the woman who said that God allowed poverty since otherwise people couldn't be good by helping them?
I prefer Lady Di.

Watching Anna Nichol Smith (Victoria Arthur, how's that for trivia?) is like watching a gruesome train wreck. You can't look, but you have to, and then you cannot look away. I think that explains the fascination with her.

Penn & teller had an interesting take on Mother Teresa on Bullsh!t. I don't want to stir up a big hornet's nest but I'm not sure she really should be thought of as a saint...
At least Di was hot.
