One movie that comes to mind is Godzilla. How could they not use BOC's Godzilla?
On the smart move side, The Stand miniseries used BOC's Don't Fear the Reaper for the first night.

Didn't they wuss out and use some horrible cover version though?? I know that PJ did that with The Frighteners but I don't actually remember about The Stand.

Nope, it was BOC.
Keeping with the BOC theme, I think Subhuman would be perfect for a zombie film, or even one of the C.H.U.Ds.
Run Like Hell by Pink Floyd would fit into 28 Days Later in several places.
How about AC/DC's If You Want Blood You've Got It for the infamous "Lionel & his lawnmower" scene from Brain Dead.

"Werewolves of London" should have been used in An American Werewolf of London.

Another BOC one just popped into my head: Veteran of the Psychic Wars would have been perfect for Scanners.
The Who's Who Are You? in The Thing.
How about Just a Gigolo for Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag - "I...ain't got no-body". Alright, that one was a stretch.

How about "Hand in My Pocket" by Alanis Morissette for "Hannibal Rising"? (sorry - still mad about paying full price for that lousy book).

A lot of times the reason sonmgs weren't used for movies is not because the producers were knuckleheads who didn't think to use them, but because getting the rights to use the song proved to be impossible. Sometimes this is because the rights were too expensive, but more often than not it's because whoever owns the rights to the song decided not to grant them. Led Zeppelin in particular is notorious for being incredibly pernsickety about which movies/TV shows get to use their songs.
Who Are You would have been the perfect song to use for Identity. |

Yes, as I recall Jack Black and co. had to virtually beg Led Zeppelin for the rights to "Immigrant Song" for School of Rock.
And since we're on the topic, how about Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Remember the scene where someone recommends Side One of Led Zeppelin IV as can't-miss makeout music. CUT TO: a character dutifully following that advice... except the song he's playing, "Kashamir", isn't on the LZIV album, Side One or Two. It's actually from "Physical Graffiti." |

Not virtually, literally! One of the extras is film of him begging Robert Plant over the phone, with the cast backing him up.

The Who's "Who Are You" for The Usual Suspects
Obvious, but.... "Frankenstein" by the Edgar Winter Group for any new version of Frankenstein
"She Drives Me Crazy" by the Fine Young Cannibals for Silence of the Lambs
"I Don't Remember" by Peter Gabriel for Memento or The Bourne Identity
For The Incredible Hulk (TV series or movie): "It's Not Easy Bein' Green" by Kermit the Frog |

How about "Old King Kong" by George Jones for King Kong?

I wonder if BOC's "Astrology" is in Zodiac...probably not.
And thinking of BOC...
"Harvester of Eyes" for Opera. "Flaming Telepaths" for Wilder Napalm. "Don't Fear the Reaper" for Final Destination. "E.T.I." for just about any film featuring contact with aliens.

Okay, just for fun:
"I Can't Get It Out of My Head" by ELO for the ear parasite sequence from Star Trek: Wrath of Khan. |

For ones set in the modern day, maybe. |
