Forget about the fast food chains. Find a locally owned and run place (preferably a hole in the wall dive) and try their fries. More likely than not, you'll never want french fries from anywhere else again.

Bowling alley french fries. And not some new bowling alley with digital displays of the scores and new carpet and was built within the last 10 years. I mean a bowling alley left over from 1967 with orange and white linoleoum tile floors and white leather bowling shoe rentals.

Now those are french fries.

and make sure that they haven't changed that oil in 30 or 40 years. Aha the good stuff. And for perfection douse them with cheese whiz and garlic salt.

There are falafel places in Israel that have been frying the falafel in the same crankcase oil since the War of Independence.

I like what Alton Brown of GOOD EATS said about good diners. You want to see them with a well used potato slicer in the back.
Fries need to be made from real potatos people! That ersatz crap Buregr King uses make we want to feed it to the geese at the plant. THAT ougth to get rid on 'em!

Perhaps the morphing of this thread from a serious discussion about the portrail of the terrorist situaion in media to light-hearted commentary on french-fries illistrates the difference between a healthy mindset and the disturbing thought process of a fanatic. One thing I've noticed about many religous (or anti-religous) fanatics is that they seem to lack a real sense of humor. I'd guess that most people who are willing to kill innocent people in the name of their "god" do not see god as an entity with a sense of humor (because they themselves lack one); I'm not sure how someone could be filled with such hatred if they could imagine god making jokes and laughing.

Barely on topic, but personally until I see the movie, I would disregard any of it.

I've seen and heard various programs with Schlussel on it, and the woman is in the same category as Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity. She used to call into Howard Sterns program (dunno about now, I don't have XM) and the nonsense that would spew out of her mouth as amazing.

Media Matters is a site I've come across that documents whenever something is misrepresented or reported (and wrong) in the news. THey had a few articles on her. If I can find something better I'll post it.
