C'on, did anyone enjoy this movie? I went to the theatre knowing beforehand that the reviewers seemed to hate it, but I was expecting at least to be entertained. Not a chance.
Basically it is your text-book example of a sequel, it does take all the superficial elements of the original (by original I mean the 2005 remake) and combine them in such a fashion that you end up asking yourself how they could work on the first place.
Add the usual flaws in modern slashers -shaky cam in all its glory, interchangeable characters, bad dialogue, stupid things to do (one of the characters, a woman, goes to pee alone behind a rock seconds after seing evidence that mutants like to abduct women) and lots of false scares, and you end up with one of those movies that is completely forgotten by the next day.
Wes Craven, shame on you. I already knew you were a hack, but c'on, Hollywood is full of ghost writers you could have hired to mend this mess. |

Sorry, but the previews for that movie--they actually showed them in some theaters--looked just straight-to-dvd awful. Why didn't they cast Jean Claude Van-Damm, Steven Segal or Tom Berenger in the thing so we'd know what we were getting into?
Looked like a ripoff of Southern Comfort, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Aliens except...not so good. |
