I know it's just a rumor. But I got chills up my spine.

Not to mention other loopy remakes of the same movie. Agonybooth.com better gear up.

I'm not exactly booking my tickets to watch it, but let's remember Casablanca was already remade with Pamela Anderson as Rick (yep, I'm talking of Barb Wire) and the world didn't cease to exist.

I've gotta say, Madonna's looking rather good for someone pushing 50, at least.

What I'm wondering is how Hollywood ideological principles would translate into a "Casablanca in Iraq?" What's the Victor Lazslo character fighting for? America has to be the villain, presumably (I'm picturing an American Major Strasser leading his drunken psychopathic soldiers in a Lee Greenwood medley after raping prisoners at Abu Ghraib, only to be drowned out by Madonna singing... hmm... the Internationale? Or maybe just a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Barack Obama"?)

Laszlo would probably be fighting for Hamas, I figure.

On a sidenote, the biggest loser in the Barb Wire fiasco was MST3K: The Movie. That and Barb Wire were released by the same company. The company decided that Barb Wire was going to be their big hit, so they put all their dough into marketing Pam's film while releasing MST3K on barely more than a few theaters. (And I mean a few: how many screens did it play on? 300?)

We can thank the bots' resulting poor box office performance partially on all the unwarranted attention lavished on ex-Mrs. Tommy Lee.

True, that and the fact that not many people were willing to pay eight bucks for a movie that ran 20 minutes shorter (not counting commercials) than a show they normally got to watch for free.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I remember a few years ago when there was talk of remaking CASABLANCA starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Then GIGLI came out and... As they say, the rest is history.

Really? I had the opposite reaction. She looks like a piece of jerky.

It must be said - Cyndi Lauper aged a lot more gracefully. She's, what, 54? Looks quite a bit younger than Madonna these days, I think. (Not to mention she's actually got acting talent.)

Huh, you're right about Cyndi Lauper - I think she might even look better now than she did in her heyday....

Madonna thinks this'll make her career as an actress. Hopefully it will make it end.
